Blue Cross Fund Day and Dog Show

One of the things we like to do at Handsome Hound Bandanas is help to raise money for our local dog charities and this weekend we held a stall at the Blue Cross Fund Day and Dog Show.

We’re becoming dab hands at packing up our supplies for the day and this time even remembered a flask of tea and some treats for Buck. Heading through the back lanes from Crediton to Tiverton, we made our way towards the Devon village of Willand who will be hosting the day’s event.

At this event I had the pleasure of wearing a very special present from my friend Laura who had a ‘Handsome Hound Bandanas’ T-Shirt made from Roar Clothing, Exeter. The print quality is fantastic and the fit is great however you will need to order one size larger than usual as the Gilden shirts are on the small size.

Our stall, based in the indoor craft section, received lots of lovely doggy visitors from all walks of life. We met a beautiful Newfoundland Cross, an awesome duo Daphne the Labrador and Poppy the Labradoodle, a Golden Retriever puppy and a Merle Dachshund. Here is Guinness a Red Setter who won 3rd place in ‘Most Handsome Male’

There was an excellent selection of stalls; some bric-a-brac, handmade soft furnishings, Children’s books and puzzles and a few fete games including guess the number of sweets in the jar, and a lucky dip.

Buck and Tig‘The Gruesome Twosome: Buck and Tigger – best buds’

The annual Blue Cross dog show is excellent opportunity for some socialisation for the young and old, and the puppies at the show were getting used to different sounds, smells, people and dogs. Almost all of the dogs were on their best behaviour and it was lovely to see some of the Blue Cross’ rescues with their lovely new owners.

Unbeknown to me I entered Buck into the largest class of the day; ‘Dog the judge would most like to take home’. Buck uncharacteristically spent the hole time jumping up at me to get the biscuits from my pockets so we did not qualify for a rosette. Best buddy Tigger however won 2nd place for best rescue which we feel he thoroughly deserves! Well done Tigs!

We’d like to say a massive thank-you to The Blue Cross – Tiverton for having us and to all the fantastic dogs and owners we met throughout the day. Heres me, Buck, Sarah and Tigger having a quick ‘I love my dog’ picture moment.
