You may recognise Douglas from our Happy Customers pages modelling his Dinosaur and Watermelon collars.
Now Douglas and his owner Josh are competing in a new BBC2 series which sees dogs and their owners going head to head to complete special challenges; displaying the amazing bond between man and his best friend.
‘Me and My Dog – The Ultimate Contest‘ is hosted by Chris Packham a well known dog enthusiast and a childhood hero from CBBC’s ‘The Really Wild Show’. Alongside the challenges between owners and dogs, Packham will be investigating the relationship between canines and humans, and each team will be using new training and behaviour techniques to help them succeed in their rounds. This programme looks as if will be as informative as it is fun and we cannot wait.

This handsome old man is Chilli the Border Terrier who is wearing his Devon Flag collar. It took Chilli’s owner Jen a little while to get a picture of him facing the camera as he appears to be camera shy. We think he looks great! Thanks Jen for the photo.
This is Rocco and Harvey. Rocco is a big loveable Rottweiler and and Harvey is a Westie Cross who loves nothing more than to play with his large friend. This dynamic duo are sporting a the new Devon Flag collar design.
This is beautiful Declan who is wearing a large size Devon Flag collar. Declan is a Spaniel who is lucky enough to live on Dartmoor! Thanks so much to owner Claire for the great picture.
We drive past Quicke’s farm and shop every day on our commute to and from work and this year we noticed a new sign outside advertising the cakeadoodledo cafe. We’ve always said how we should visit and support local businesses, so on a very wet and windy Sunday afternoon we did just that. Accompanied by our good friends Mr and Mrs Tapp, and of course Buck the spaniel, we took the 10 minute drive to the local cafe.
Coffee cake and a pot of tea
Cakeadoodledo, is a small, independent cafe established in Exeter city centre which has opened a sister cafe on the Quicke’s site near Crediton. It’s located in a separate ‘safari-tent’ type building to the traditional farm shop and is 100% dog and children friendly (which makes it very appealing to those families who need to get both the kids and the hound out of the house).
The children’s area
There were a gorgeous selection of cakes making it almost impossible to choose and we each ordered a pot of tea. Prices were very reasonable and staff were helpful and friendly, even stopping to say hello to Buck. As well as serving cakes and an array of hot drinks, Cakeadoodledo stock local beers and ciders and offer a breakfast, lunch and Sunday-lunch menu all incorporating produce from the surrounding towns and villages.

Quicke’s farm shop, also on site, sell produce from the farm itself and stock other locally sourced items such as honey, ice cream and cider. They are open 9am – 5pm Monday – Saturday. Quickes are best known for their award winning cheeses and you can attend a cheese tour at the farm for £15pp, we like the sound of that!
You may have read before about our love for Ullacombe Farm Shop, a great place to buy local products and get some great food.
Well now there is even more reason to pay them a visit as they are now stocking a selection of our classic bandana range in store!
Ullacombe have always been a big supporter of ours and we love setting up a stall at one of their many events they hold every year. Check out our original post about Ullacombe Farm, including directions and some of the great past events we have attended.
